Social Science Requirement Objectives
The following is a list of objectives that you may find helpful when you’re preparing to submit a course to the CCC for approval.
Social Science Requirement courses will:
- Demonstrate the value of systematic, rigorous qualitative and/or quantitative methods for understanding individual and collective human behavior and institutions.
- Analyze key concepts and theories concerning individual human behavior and/or collective action and organization.
- Examine how empirical evidence is used to construct arguments about human behavior and/or social, political, and economic phenomena.
- Explore the role of norms and values in shaping human behavior and socio- political phenomena.
- Analyze social science issues within larger historical and global contexts and encourage students to reflect on the human and social impact of developments in other areas of inquiry, such as the arts, science, religion, etc.
